Summary

 

·  Function:   To perform supervisory assistance directing housekeeping, custodial maintenance and related building services.

 

·  Scope:      Responsible for assisting in the direct or indirect supervision of building service employees, and for overseeing a program of custodial management.

 

Duties

 

·  Typical:

1.      Inspects assigned buildings and facilities.  Determines and advises superiors of the need for building repairs and/or maintenance activities.

2.      Inspects completed work of building services custodial and maintenance personnel.

3.      Assists in establishing work schedules and in forming work crews.

4.      Oversees and assists in employee training.

5.      Requisitions, receives, maintains, and distributes material and supplies for custodial work.

6.      Monitors and reports work conditions and employee morale to superiors.

7.      Performs other duties as assigned.

 

·  Periodic:

1.      Assists in interviewing applicants for vacant positions.

2.      Supervises the preparation of facilities for meetings, public programs and other functions.

 

Education

 

Required

High school graduation or GED.

Executive Housekeeper certification or specific college coursework in management and/or fundamentals of housekeeping.

Two years of supervisory experience in general custodial and janitorial work or related management activities.

Four years of similar experience in a college or university.
