Gilbert obtained his bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s University in Electrical Engineering and minored in Physics. During this time he participated in several research programs where he studied quantum dot distribution at the University of Illinois at Chicago and magnetism associated with cell separation at Ohio State University.
Currently, Gilbert is a pursuing his doctorate degree in Biomedical Engineering as part of the UTSA-UTHSCSA Joint Graduate Program. He works under the supervision of Dr. Jing Yong Ye in the Advanced Biophotonics Laboratory, studying contrast agents and image reconstruction for photoacoustic imaging. He has presented his work at multiple conferences, including the BMES Annual Meeting.
