Information on UTSA's wireless network
UTSA Air Rowdy Wireless service now supports both SSL2 and SSL3 encryption standards. What does this mean? Internet Explorer 7 is now supported on UTSA Air Rowdy Wireless Service. Most other browsers including Firefox, Opera, Safari and Camino are also supported. Compaq Ipaq must, at a minimum, be running software Pocket PC 4.20.1081 Build 13100 in order to connect to Air Rowdy.
Hot spots are areas where individuals can access the university's network if their laptops have appropriate wireless network capabilities. In these areas, authorized computer users can log on to a public segment of the network, and access online applications.
The wireless signal can be affected by many different factors including terrain, weather, obstacles in the path of the signal and proximity to other wireless users. Usually the best way to improve your signal is to try moving to another area.
You will be logged off automatically on a daily basis.
To ensure connectivity you should purchase a wireless network card that is 802.11b or 802.11g (Wi-Fi) compliant. No configuration changes are necessary once your wireless card is installed and functioning correctly.
Usage Policy
Use of the campus wireless network is governed by the UTSA computer usage policy. By connecting to this network you agree to abide by university policies regarding appropriate computer usage. Read the complete policy text online.
