Welcome
to the TRIO Programs at UTSA.
The TRIO Programs
are federally-funded programs dedicated to helping first generation,
low-income students succeed in their precollege performance and
ultimately in their higher education pursuits.
The Pre-college Programs
provide
fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college
entrance. Whereas, the goal of the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate
Achievement Program
is to
increase the attainment of Ph.D. degrees by students from
underrepresented segments of society.
Currently, there are seven TRIO
programs at UTSA:
Educational
Talent Search (San Antonio and
Outreach),
Upward
Bound (Northside and Southside) and
Upward
Bound Math & Science (San Antonio
and Medina) and
Ronald E. McNair.

Empowering
participants to complete post-secondary education through
pre-college preparation, undergraduate scholarly research and the pursuit of excellence.
TRIO
is a department within the Office of P-20 Initiatives; below are
the Vision and Mission Statements for P-20 Initiatives
Mission Statement
The mission of the Office of P-20 Initiatives is to
provide higher education access and opportunity for students and parents
via intervention programs that have been historically underserved in San
Antonio and South Texas through quality and meaningful partnerships with
schools, business and industry, private foundations, government and
community-based organizations.
Vision Statement
The
vision of the Office of P-20 Initiatives is to be a model of excellence
within the UT System and to be recognized as a regional and national
leader in “closing the educational gap” and “increasing access to the
educational pipeline” for students from pre-kindergarten through
graduate school from those populations that have been traditionally
underserved and underrepresented.
We welcome and encourage
participation regardless of race, national origin, gender,
or disability
