Upward Bound is a pre-college program that prepares students for the rigors of college. Upward Bound provides low income and first generation college-bound students with the skills and motivation necessary for the attainment of baccalaureate degrees.  The program serves students from John Jay, Oliver Wendell Holmes and Southside High schools in the San Antonio area. Jay and Holmes are urban/suburban campuses located in West/Northwest/Southwest San Antonio area.  Southside is a rural campus located outside the city limits.  These schools serve ethnically diverse communities.  As an integral part of the University of Texas at San Antonio's (UTSA's) K-16 outreach initiatives, the U.S. Department of Education funds the program.
