UBMS students at UTSA's JPL Dining Facility The Upward Bound Math & Science (UBMS) program at UTSA is a college preparatory program, which prepares and encourages low-income, first generation college bound students and students with disabilities to pursue higher education in fields of math, science, engineering, and technology.  The program focuses on strengthening math and science skills in participants through a variety of support services and programming.  UBMS students participate in a 6 week Summer Academic Enrichment program.

This program is designed to enrich the students' academic skills with a concentration in math and science courses.  Each Summer, eligible UBMS graduating seniors have the opportunity to enroll in college credit courses at UTSA. This component of the program is referred to the Bridge Program, for which UBMS pays their tuition, books, and room and board. Students are also exposed to computer technology, English, and foreign languages as part of the program curriculum.

Throughout the academic year, a UBMS advisor advises program participants and provides necessary preparation for college entry. Students also attend college tours and cultural events to further expand their awareness in preparing for college.
