What will Tutors do for Faculty?

The Tutors of the Center for Writing Excellence enjoy and encourage a collaborative relationship with all UTSA Faculty. We will work with Student writers from all disciplines and in that regard,

  • Upon invitation, we will visit your class and talk about the services provided in the Writing Center. This is helpful in putting our faces out there so students do not feel uncomfortable about going to see a "stranger".

  • We will offer workshops or study groups in topics like outlining a paper, writing an introduction, organizing ideas, documenting sources, etc.

  • We will keep a copy of any standard writing assignments so that we might review them and be prepared for specific papers to be presented by your students.

  • If asked, we will be happy to assist in reviewing writing prompts and parameters to help students better understand what's expected.

As long as a task involves UTSA students and assisting their writing skills, we are happy to work with faculty in any way necessary to meet the university's goals of "research and discovery, teaching and learning, community engagement and public service.*" If you have a suggestion or recommendation, please contact the Associate Director.
