in the News is a synopsis of items that have appeared in periodicals

and career opportunities. The grant, awarded by the Telecommunications

In
a milestone commencement ceremony for the University of Texas at San
Antonio, Governor Rick Perry on Saturday urged graduates to remain ambitious,
idealistic and virtuous--and to value the education they just completed.
Perry, the first sitting governor to address UTSA graduates in the university's
32-year history, delivered a 20-minute speech that was alternately humous
and philosophical. The University of Texas at San Antonio ranked sixth among U.S. colleges and universities in the number of bachelor's degrees conferred to Hispanic graduatess, according to a survey published in the latest issue of Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education.
