Today marks a truly momentous day in our university’s history. As the third-largest research university in Texas, we stand ready to serve our community with an unparalleled spirit of discovery, innovation, education and care. Today, we launch a new era — together — as UT San Antonio.
The beginning of each semester always brings great excitement; however, this fall is especially momentous given our forthcoming merger with UT Health San Antonio.
Over the past year, our Brand & Marketing Task Force and Communications Task Force — working in close partnership with the strategic consulting firm Prophet and numerous colleagues across both campuses—have been building something truly extraordinary. The result is a visionary brand narrative that reflects our aspirations as one new, united powerhouse institution.

On the heels of a new year, we face an opportune time to reaffirm our vision and commitment to building a world class university to serve our city, state, nation and beyond. Since announcing our merger last August, we have been deeply encouraged by the enthusiastic support of our San Antonio community.
In an effort to support the continued well-being of our campus community, UTSA will proceed with remote operations on January 2 and 3. Overall, our goal is to reduce on-campus operations on these days, and we ask that employees conduct remote operations whenever possible.
It has been an extraordinarily busy season, filled with many opportunities for the growth and advancement of our university, but with some challenges too. As we close out this semester, we want to take a moment to celebrate how far we have come as a campus community.
