Anna Morton Rivera joins Real Estate and Property Management Team
Anna Morton Rivera recently joined UTSA Real Estate and Property Management as the new Executive Director of Energy Management. Rivera brings over 15 years of engineering experience, including extensive knowledge of energy system modeling and design.
In her role, Rivera oversees campus energy and utilities such as water, natural gas and electrical/thermal energy, as well as sustainability efforts tied to asset management. This includes identifying and implementing equipment upgrades and utility expansions, creating sustainable energy systems and spearheading the conservation of energy and water while reducing waste and emissions.
“I grew up in San Antonio, and I am thrilled to be a part of a local institution supporting the community,” Rivera stated. “UTSA is an amazing university full of brilliant people. I’m excited to dig into our building data and find ways to enhance efficiencies while creating world-class campuses.”
Before joining the university, Rivera worked for engineering consulting firms dbHMS and Morton Gestalt where she designed high-performance, energy-efficient building systems. She also created building energy models and managed project teams centered around sustainability and energy management.
Outside of work, Rivera enjoys jogging, going on hikes with her family and spending time with her toddler, three cats and her dog. An avid gamer, Rivera especially enjoys the strategy board game “Wingspan.”
Rivera holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Baylor University, a Building Energy Modeling Professional Certification (BEMP) from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and is a licensed professional engineer in Texas and California.
