UTSA Dining Introduces Farmer’s Fridge for Healthy, Convenient Meal Options
UTSA Dining recently installed new Farmer’s Fridge smart refrigerators at the Main and Southwest Campuses, offering students, faculty and staff a convenient way to access fresh, nutritious meals at any time of day. These self-serve locations provide a wide variety of healthy, chef-curated salads, bowls and snacks, making it easier than ever to enjoy a variety of dining options on the go.
On the Southwest Campus, a Farmer’s Fridge can be found in main hallway of the Santikos Building. As one of the high-traffic locations on campus, this allows the smart fridge to be easily accessible to the Roadrunner community. “We saw a need for accessible food options at the Southwest Campus to support our faculty, staff and students,” said Gavin Moon, District Manager for UTSA Dining. “Farmer’s Fridge was the perfect solution. It offers a variety of wholesome and healthy meals that are replenished regularly, ensuring quality and convenience.”
The Main Campus also received a Farmer’s Fridge, located in the Student Union near the Info Desk. The addition of the smart fridge is in response to valuable student feedback requesting healthier dining options outside of normal hours of operation for existing dining locations. Farmer’s Fridge, known for its nutrient-packed, chef-curated meals, serves as a perfect option to offer quick, balanced choices between classes or late at night.
“With the addition of Farmer’s Fridge, we are meeting our students’ needs for healthier, convenient options around the clock,” said Stephanie Edgett, Associate Director of Campus Services Facilities and Partner Management. “We encourage everyone to give it a try and enjoy the fresh, delicious meals it has to offer.”
Farmer’s Fridge operates through self-serve refrigerated kiosks that are restocked regularly to ensure minimal food waste while maximizing freshness. The meals are prepared in a USDA-certified kitchen and delivered fresh to the fridges.
