Start Your Wellness Journey With Rowdy New U

Rowdy New U is a wellness program created for faculty and staff that provides learning opportunities, activities, programs and other resources needed to empower and encourage UTSA faculty and staff to make choices and changes that lead to a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Offered by the Wellness Department in People Excellence, the goal of Rowdy New U is to create a healthy campus.

What We Offer


  • Workshops (and webinars): Topics include financial wellness, fitness, nutrition and healthy lifestyle.
  • Walking Trails System: The Wellness Team mapped out a walking trails system available on the Main and Downtown Campuses to promote physical activity and our updated Tobacco, Smoke, and Vape Free Campus Policy. The trails were developed for faculty, staff, students and alumni, as well as the general public.
  • Rowdy New U Wellness Champion Program: This program allows faculty and staff to serve as liaisons between Rowdy New U and UTSA departments to create a culture of health by promoting program awareness and involvement in wellness programs, services and events.
  • Leave for Wellness Incentive: Benefits-eligible employees can apply for one of the three different incentives in the UTSA HOP 4.20 Section T. policy. Check out the details in the Leave for Wellness Incentive Factsheet.
  • Quarterly Wellness Assessments: Faculty and staff can track of their fitness goals through a wellness assessment. Rowdy New U members will receive an email reminder every three months to schedule their assessments or come to our walk-in hours.
  • Ergonomics: Ergonomics is the science of fitting the job to the employee. Employees can request an in-person ergonomic evaluation or submit an ergonomic self-evaluation online. Check out the Ergonomic Equipment Factsheet for more details
  • Wellness Ticket Program: Faculty and staff have the opportunity to acquire Wellness Tickets throughout the year by attending Rowdy New U events and activities. As employees accumulate tickets, they can shop in the Wellness Ticket Store to exchange tickets for wellness items. The Wellness Ticket Store can be found in the Rowdy New U Microsoft Team.
  • Rowdy New U Wellness Workshops for Departments (15-30 minutes): Need a wellness presentation for your department?
