Talent Search San Antonio

TRIO Talent Search Purpose

The University of Texas at San Antonio's TRIO Talent Search SA program serves students at Rayburn Middle School, Ross Middle School, Holmes High School, and Jay High School.

The program identifies and assists individuals with the potential to succeed in higher education. The year-round program serves 500 middle and high school students in San Antonio and provides academic, career, and financial counseling to support high school graduation and encourage postsecondary degree completion for participants.

Services are free for 500 enrolled pre-college students from Holmes High School, Jay High School, Rayburn Middle School, and Ross Middle School, who meet at least one of the following criteria:

Income eligible
Prospective first-generation college student

In addition, each student must:
- Be a citizen or national of the U.S. or meet the residency requirements for federal aid
- Be committed to completing a four-year degree
- Need academic assistance

Advice in secondary and postsecondary course selection
Assistance in preparing for college entrance examinations and completing college applications
College tours and career exploration
Counseling services to improve the financial and economic literacy of students and parents
Connections for academic tutoring services
Information on FAFSA, Pell Grant, loan forgiveness, and scholarship resources
