UTSA leadership welcomes a new spring semester with campus resources

JANUARY 22, 2025 — Editor’s note: The following message was sent via email from UTSA President Taylor Eighmy, Provost, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Heather Shipley and Executive Vice President for Business Affairs and Chief Enterprise Development Officer Veronica Salazar to all faculty and staff.

Welcome to the spring semester! We hope you had the opportunity to recharge over the winter break and celebrate the new year in a way that was meaningful to you.

As we welcome our students back to campus this week, we encourage you to help them connect and engage with all the resources and services available to them, including:

  • Roadrunner Days: Joining campus events is the perfect opportunity to help students feel engaged as they begin to immerse themselves in our campus culture.
  • Well-being resources: Focusing on physical and mental health is the best way to help students prepare for the new semester.
  • Student organizations: With over 300 registered student organizations at UTSA, there are endless opportunities for our students to make new friends and network with peers.
  • Career-engaged learning: Experiential learning offers our students real-world experience while positively impacting their self-esteem and career readiness.

We also hope you’ll explore and engage with all of the services and avenues of support available to you as members of our faculty and staff. This semester’s highlights include:

  • Leadership development and wellness classes: Explore all the offerings our Employee Success Center is hosting in-person and virtually throughout the semester.
  • Health chats: Learn more about ways to stay mentally and physically healthy through virtual seminars.
  • Stretch breaks: Enjoy come-and-go stretch sessions both in-person and virtually all semester long to increase physical and mental well-being at work. See the virtual flyer or join the People Excellence Teams channel for dates and times.
  • Heart Walk 2025: UTSA Wellness is hosting its annual event on February 13 at 10 a.m. at both the Main (North Paseo Building portico) and Downtown (Frio Building breezeway) campuses. Register using MyTraining
  • Deer Oaks Employee Assistance Programs: Keep your wellness a priority using our free services available 24/7.

As always, we thank you for your ongoing leadership and support as we strive to make UTSA an innovative place to work, learn and discover. We wish you all a strong start to the new semester!
