Summer Institute for Leadership and Stewardship
UTSA's Center for Policy Studies hosted its annual Summer Institute for Leadership and Stewardship (SILS) on August 5 & 6, 2010. This two-day conference explores current trends in nonprofit leadership. SILS 2010 was entitled "Lost in Translation? Innovative Techniques to Effectively Communicate Your Mission to Every Audience," and offered workshops on social media, diversity, soft skills, and marketing.
Just over thirty area nonprofit professionals attended at the Downtown Campus and feedback was overwhelmingly positive. A participant from Catholic Charities proclaimed, "UTSA is wonderful. Your speakers are dynamic!" While a participant from United Way exclaimed, "Loved it!!! Thank you so much." Finally, a participant from CASA said, "Very informative. I'm glad I had the opportunity to come. Much of the information will help me in my current position and to advance."
Thanks to generous sponsorships by the San Antonio Nonprofit Council, United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, and Armstrong, Vaughan, and Associates, the Center for Policy Studies can continue to offer professional development to nonprofit professionals as a way to build capacity of local nonprofit organizations.
