Alfredo Tiznado, a senior and architecture major, was one of the seven UTSA students who also received the Benjamin A. Gillman International Scholarship. He will participate in UTSA’s architecture program in Italy.

Erik Leitner, a graduate student of the Master of Architecture program was honored with the Dean’s Award for Best Master’s Project for his design proposal on an independently researched capstone project

The nominated project’s were so noteworthy this year that Murphy chose two runners up. Raul Baeza and Christopher Caillier received the Dean’s Merit Award for their class.

The Department of Counseling has received the 2011-2012 Association for Counselor Education and Supervision Robert E. Frank Outstanding Program Award.

Congratulations to Dr. Thelma Duffey for receiving the 2011-2012 Association for Counselor Education and Supervision Distinguished Mentor Award.

Maria Apreza, criminal justice and political science major, is one of seven UTSA students awarded the Benjamin A. Gillman International Scholarship, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational & Cultural Affairs. She will study in Salamanca, Spain.

Eric Smith is one of five outstanding Texas graduate students in social work to receive the prestigious 2011 Ima Hogg Scholarship for Mental Health. He is a second-year student and upon graduation in May 2012, plans to provide mental health services to active-duty military members and their families.

COPP Staff

The College of Public Policy came in second in the recent State Employees Charitable Campaign with 68.7% of their employees participating this year. The President’s Office came in first, with an 87.9% participation rate. UTSA faculty and staff raised a total of $229,718.77 for this year’s campaign.
