Hatipkarasulu Named 2012 Outstanding Educator
Dr. Yilmaz Hatipkarasulu, Assistant Professor and coordinator of the UTSA Construction Science and Management (CSM) program, was recently named the 2012 Outstanding Educator by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) Education and Research Foundation.
The award is one of the most prestigious national awards in the construction discipline, and Dr. Hatipkarasulu traveled to the AGC 93rd annual convention in Hawaii to be honored. The award acknowledged his work to develop the UTSA Construction Science and Management program and his outstanding accomplishment in establishing a scholarship program for construction students.
Established in 2008, the CSM program offers a four-year Bachelor of Science in Construction Science and Management degree. With more than 200 undergraduate students and six faculty members, the CSM program is one of the fastest growing construction programs in the nation.
Advising Selected as Conference Host
The Downtown Campus Undergraduate Advising Center has been selected as the host for the 2012 UTSA Academic Advising Conference. This one day conference is an opportunity for advisors from UTSA and surrounding area institutions to participate in developmental workshops, to network with colleagues, and to receive up-to-date information on current advising practices. This year’s conference is scheduled for Friday, October 10, 2012 and will take place at the Downtown Campus.
