The Office of University Communications is located on the fourth floor of the Frio Street Building and is staffed by a full-time Public Affairs Officer. The Public Affairs Officer serves as media liaison to the Provost's Office, University Advancement, Student Affairs, the College of Education and Human Development, the College of Public Policy, and many of the university's outreach programs and research centers.
The Public Affairs Officer works with UTSA administration, staff, and students to publicize "need to know" and feature story information within the Tri-Campus community and externally to the San Antonio community and beyond. The Public Affairs Officer handles incoming requests from the news media, ranging from local to international levels, as well as responds to many public inquiries.
The Public Affairs Officer can assist with publicizing university-oriented, university-sponsored or related events; dispersing the good news about professional achievements, grants, outreach efforts, etc; submitting an item for distribution on the UTSA Newsletter or UTSA Today; assisting in planning events when the news media is likely to attend; assisting in the event of a Campus crisis; or if there is contact from the news media and you do not wish to respond.
