Nominations for 2018 Regents' Outstanding Employee Awards

Overview

The Regents' Outstanding Employee Award (ROEA) seeks to recognize thirty UT System employees per year from across our institutions for their outstanding performance, innovation, enthusiasm and dedication in their job. ROEA winners receive a $10,000 award and are honored at an annual awards luncheon hosted by the UT System Chancellor and Board of Regents.

Eligibility

Nominees for the ROEA must:

  • Be a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-faculty employees (staff)
  • Have been employed by UTSA for at least 2 continuous years
  • In good standing (not on any formal disciplinary action)
  • Have a recent performance evaluation rating of “solid performance (SP)” or higher
  • Not have received the ROEA in the last five years

The Human Resources Department will confirm the above information during the review of nominations. Nominators should not contact the nominee’s department or HR to confirm the above information.

Nominations

Each application packet should include:

  1. A completed Regents’ Outstanding Employee Award (ROEA) Nomination Form
  2. Three (3) Letters of Support from key individuals that include employee’s contributions in the following areas:
    • Superior performance
    • Outstanding customer service
    • Acts that enhance the image of the institution and/or community outreach
    • Teamwork

Key Individuals should include a combination of vice presidents, deans, department heads, managers, supervisors and peers (within or outside department).

Letters of Support: Each Letter of Support should not exceed three (3) pages and must be signed by the key individuals.  Please use 12pt, Times New Roman font with one inch margins, double spaced, and adhere to all rules of grammar.  Supplemental articles and pictures may be submitted for consideration but will not be returned.  Do not submit videos, DVDs, or links to online content as these items will not be considered.

Submitting a Nomination 

  1. Please combine your materials (the ROEA nomination form and the three (3) Letters of Support) into a single combined PDF.  This will ensure that your materials stay together as a single packet through the nomination and review process.
  2. Attach the PDF nomination packet to an email.  The subject line should include “ROEA” and the last and first name of the nominee.  For example:

Deadline

All completed ROEA nomination packets must be emailed by no later than Friday, February 2, 2018 at 5pm CST.
Partial or incomplete packets will not be considered.

UT System Review

UTSA will recommend no more than four (4) of the top nominations to UT System selection committee composed of UT System Administration executive officers who will select 30 awardees from among the fourteen UT System institutions, plus the UT System Administration.  Awardees receive a $10,000 monetary award and an invitation for the awardee and a guest to a luncheon award ceremony in Austin on May 14, 2018.
