How to Request Employment Verification

The process for obtaining Verification of Employment/Income has changed. UTSA now uses an external agency called “The Work Number” to provide that service.

The Work Number is an automated service that securely provides instant employment and income verifications. It can be used when applying for a loan, buying a car, leasing an apartment, qualifying for public assistance or similar instances where proof of employment or income is needed.

The Work Number streamlines the transfer of information between employers and verifiers, benefiting you by accelerating the decision process without compromising your data privacy.

The Work Number is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and by utilizing this service, your human resources department has extended the ability for you to apply for credit rapidly and easily—even on weekends or during evening hours—and without the need to provide paper documentation such as pay stubs to lenders or other service providers.

You will need three pieces of information to access “The Work Number” site:

  1. Your employee ID.  If you don’t know your Employee ID, you can obtain it by visiting:  Log on to that site using your UTSA Network ID and you will be presented a screen with your basic data, which includes your UTSA Employee ID (Empl ID).
  2. UTSA Employer Code which is 13944.
  3. A PIN. The first time you access the Work Number site you must enter a default PIN which is the last four digits of your SSN and your year of birth (xxxx1950).
