Standards in Student Affairs

In Student Affairs, our task is to provide excellence in programs and services to students. Each department within Student Affairs strives to put into practice standards and guidelines set up by the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS). CAS has designed these standards to “promote the improvement of programs and services to enhance the quality of student learning and development."

Why is this important?

Standards in our functional areas encourage us to be intentional with our programs and services, hold us accountable, and provide us a framework we strive to surpass. Our REACH domains are founded on standards and guidelines from CAS and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). Understanding your department’s standards, in collaboration with Four C’s and REACH, will teach you how to make a significant impact on student learning. I encourage you to look at the standards for your department and determine how they relate to the REACH domains.
