San Antonio BCycle and UTSA are piloting a program to make the popular bike sharing system available to students, faculty and staff, who can pay $25 for one semester of access to the bikes for travel on the Main Campus.

In a partnership with District 8 City Councilman Ron Nirenberg, and the city of San Antonio, UTSA has become a part of the San Antonio B-cycle program! Dr. Romo kicked off the "Ride with the President" event with a ribbon cutting ceremony in the University Center and then took the inaugural ride with Councilman Nirenberg and Student Government President Zack Dunn through the UC!

BCycle is one of the nation's largest municipal bike-sharing systems and has 55 BCycle stations stocked with 450 bikes here in San Antonio.

The two BCycle stations on the Main Campus are located near Alvarez Hall and the Applied Engineering and Technology Building. Here's a guide to how it works, but below are a few of the basics:

• Students, faculty and staff can check out a bike at either of the 2 BCycle stations, which are home to 22 BCycle bikes.
• Once you check out a BCycle, you must return it within one hour to either UTSA BCycle station to avoid having to pay additional rental fees.
• BCycles can be used for more than an hour by simply docking/undocking the BCycle before the end of each hour of use.
• Riders simply check out a BCycle with their B-Card (online registration required) or with a credit card at a BCycle station.
• Each BCycle comes equipped with a handy basket and a cable lock.
• And there are smartphone apps that help you locate nearby BCycle stations and check how many BCycles are available.

As a B-cycle member you can also use the bike sharing program in downtown San Antonio, Houston, Austin and Fort Worth. UTSA is the first university in San Antonio to get the B-cycle program on campus! Get Rowdy!
