The amount employees contribute to Teachers Retirement System (TRS) will increase to 7.2% effective September 1, 2015 and 7.7% beginning September 1, 2016. The employer contribution remains at 6.8%. Visit TRS’s website for more details

Benefits Eligible employees appointed 75% or more (30 hours or more) will be eligible for full time premium sharing effective September 1, 2015. Visit UTSA HR website for details.


April 2015 - UT System sent out annual notices via email regarding the UTSaver Retirement Plans. As an active employee, you are eligible to contribute to the 403(b) Tax Shelter Annuity (TSA) and/or 457(b) Deferred Compensation Program (DCP). [Learn More]

Announcement regarding Employee Disability Survey The Employee Disability Survey provides faculty and staff the opportunity to identify their disability status, as required by Federal Law. Survey completion is requested by April 30, 2015. Contact if you did not receive an email requesting completion of this survey.

  • Announcement regarding Anthem data breach:
    As a benefits eligible employee/retiree, you are eligible for free identity monitoring service through Deer Oaks Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Visit (login: utsa/password: utsa) and click on Legal/Financial.

  • BCBSTX and CHRISTUS Health are negotiating contract details. If an agreement is not made, then effective April 1, 2015, CHRISTUS will no longer be part of BCBS’s in-network benefits. Please work with your physician and/or BCBS to determine your future visits. Read more

  • Reminder Faculty Summer Insurance Deductions
    Benefits eligible faculty paid over 9 months will have insurance premiums for this  summer doubled deducted in the April 1, May 1 and June 1st paychecks. Benefits eligible faculty on a salary spread paid 12 months will not be impacted. The insurance premiums are deducted from the monthly paycheck.

However, if there is a change in employment or family status, premiums may be affected.   HR Benefits & Payroll offices will coordinate any adjustments, if applicable. For example, if a faculty member separates from UTSA May 31, 2015, he/she is not eligible for summer insurance; the premiums will be reimbursed and COBRA will be offered.
