Ergonomic Incentive

Ergonomics focuses on creating a safe and efficient work environment through implementing improved workstation design and tools. Ergonomic designs and work practices reduce occupational injuries, discomfort and fatigue, and can improve your productivity and job satisfaction. People Excellence works with the employee, supervisor and department leadership to collaborate on providing ergonomic support.

Important: Requested ergonomic equipment purchases are subject to supervisor approval. This approval is based on your department funding and may be revoked.

Ergonomics Program Overview

  1. An ergonomic evaluation either on site or virtual is necessary before applying to the Ergonomic Funding program.
  2. Funding for this program is limited and requests will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
  3. OneCard purchases will not be accepted.
  4. People Excellence’s Wellness Department will provide $100 of funding for the purchase of a sit/stand desk convertor and $200 funding for the purchase of an ergonomic chair. The remaining cost for purchasing the equipment must be paid for by the employee’s department cost center.
  5. Funds apply ONLY to the purchase of sit/stand desk convertors and ergonomic office chairs.

Ergonomics Request Process

  1. Complete the online Ergonomic Self-Evaluation or request an onsite ergonomic evaluation by emailing UTSA Ergonomics.
  2. We will contact you via email to provide feedback about your assessments results and a pre-approved equipment list.
  3. Include the following information on the purchase order (supervisor only):
    1. Name of the person receiving the equipment
    2. Item being purchased
    3. Put the dollar amount you are using from the People Excellence cost center, not the percentage.
  4. Complete all fields of the purchase order and email it to UTSA Ergonomics for review.
