Youth Art Studios are a wonderful opportunity for young artists to get direct instruction from one of our artist-instructors. These tuition-based classes are offered in a variety of media for ages 5 – 18 and vary in length from 4 –8 sessions. Students work on projects throughout the week as they delve into art topics, explore different media, and new ways of making. Homeschool classes are also available..
Class enrollment is limited to 10 to 15 students per class guaranteeing one-on-one instruction and allowing the artist-instructor to get to know students and their work. Please review registration guidelines and policies prior to registering.
Student release form should be completed and sent to communityart@utsa.edu. Those registering online will be prompted to fill out the form after completing the student registration. NOTE: All forms must be completed prior to the start of the first class.

Create large-scale mixed media artwork alongside your young artist! This one-of-a-kind class gives young artists the chance to collaborate on projects with their supportive adults or family members. This structured, hands-on experience will guide you through the process of creating a large-scale mixed media work of art together.

Traditionally carved from wood and originating in Mexico, these colorful figures are a beloved part of local culture and can be found in shops all over San Antonio.

Professional artist Lily Jimenez will be there as an artist support, but the making is up to the students’ creative mindset
This program is for middle school students in 6th-8th grade. The program is open enrollment and provides a serious studio learning environment with hands on projects in several mediums. Students will be able to grow their breadth and understanding of art making practices, learn about reviewing and critiquing artworks, as well as participate in an end of the year market.
These studio classes meet once a month from October through May. Classes are geared to creative minded and artistically motivated middle and high school students and aims to assist students with art making foundations and introduce new techniques; high school students will also focus on portfolio development.
The program provides the young artist, in 9th-12th grade, an opportunity to develop their portfolio and gain college credit by committing to an academic year-long program for high school students. Students are also involved in various community service-learning opportunities throughout their time in the program, which culminates in an End-of-Year exhibition.
