January 30, 2025

Miguel MontemayorThis month, we are excited to highlight Assistant Director for Operations and Maintenance Miguel Montemayor. A UTSA alum who has been part of the Real Estate and Property Management (RPM) Facilities team for over two years, Miguel brings expertise and dedication to overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of UTSA's Downtown and Southwest campuses.

Recognizing what needs to be maintained is essential to supporting Business Affairs’ commitment to ensure responsible stewardship of university assets. Through dedicated efforts and thoughtful planning, RPM ensures that UTSA's facilities meet the needs of its growing community.

For Miguel, every day looks a little different. His morning begins with crew check-ins, work reviews, coordinating with contractors and managing work orders. Miguel serves as a main point of contact for campus maintenance. From responding to outages to keeping systems running efficiently, his team works behind the scenes to ensure UTSA’s operations advance without interruption. "If you don't hear about us, we're doing our job," Miguel explains.

As a UTSA graduate, one of Miguel's favorite aspects of the role is the chance to give back to his alma mater. "It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of a mission that supports its students and partners. Everything we do, from maintaining buildings to managing operations, contributes to UTSA's ability to achieve its goals," he said.

When he's not working, Miguel enjoys spending time outdoors. Fishing, gardening, road trips and visits to the beach are some of his favorite things to do. He works intentionally to bring positivity into everything he does.

Miguel's dedication, experience and enthusiasm make him an important part of RPM, helping UTSA build a strong foundation for the future.
