Carlos Gonzales Named Director, UTSA PeopleSoft Support
and Sustainment Center
(Now Business Information Services)

PeopleSoft Integration Continues in 2016 and Beyond

Carlos GonzalesCarlos Gonzales has been named Director, PeopleSoft Support and Sustainment Center (PSSC) at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).  He will lead a team of 12 people who support UTSA administrative applications for “front offices” such as campus departments; “mid offices” including Athletics, Institutional Research, Research Service Centers; and the “back office” data processers in Financial Affairs, Human Resources, and Purchasing.  The major administrative applications include PeopleSoft, SharePoint Interim Workflow Solutions, UPK, Cognos Reporting, and Kayako/SPOC (Single Point of Contact) ticketing system.

Gonzales served as UTSA’s Campus Technical Lead during the ambitious and rigorous UTShare/PeopleSoft implementation project, which is still in the stabilization period after the implementation two years ago.  “The UT system undertook the move to PeopleSoft across all academic campuses because the previous system was expensive to maintain and resided on an antiquated infrastructure,” explained Gonzales.  “We faced many obstacles in improving the system to where it is today and look forward to continuing to upgrade it and ensure a better user experience.”

Major initiatives under way for the months ahead include streamlining workflow processes for sub-modules such as the travel disbursements, expense processing, and rolling out enhancements to procurement. In the next calendar year these will then be followed up by beginning several new projects in the Human Resource module. The team continues to provide day-to-day maintenance and “single point of contact” help desk support activities.

Gonzales graduated from Texas State University with a BBA in Computer Information Systems. He spent many years implementing PeopleSoft as both a consultant and employee for private, public, and UT System institutions.  His previous engagements included UTMB, UTHSC-Hou, UTHSC-SA, University Health Systems, and USAA.

About PeopleSoft

PeopleSoft is an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) business process management software that integrates applications to manage the business and automate office functions. In the case of schools in the UT system, those functions include Human Resources, Financial Management and Supply Chain.  One of the main objectives in the adoption of PeopleSoft was to gain economies of scale by sharing, rather than implementing a similar but distinct solution at each university.
