A new face in the President's Office

We have a new face in the President’s Office this week. I am very happy to announce the hiring of Yvonne De Leon as my new executive assistant as of May 7. Yvonne replaces our longtime executive assistant Patricia Cardenas, who retired from UTSA in December, and picks up the reins from our interim executive assistant Dorothy Tennery who did a great job keeping things running these last five months.

Yvonne comes to us with a wealth of experience as an executive assistant to several presidents/CEOs of companies here in San Antonio, including positions at the Freeman Coliseum, VIA Metropolitan Transit, and most recently at Baptist Health System. She has a high tolerance for working alongside energetic individuals with limited time but limitless ideas. It’s a skill set that takes a certain gracious professionalism, and I am delighted that we have found someone of Yvonne’s caliber to fill this key role.

Under the direction of my chief of staff Mary Diaz, Yvonne will coordinate my calendar and all logistical arrangements. As you can imagine, making sure I’m in the right place at the right time—and seeing all the people I need to see—is no easy feat. Given Yvonne’s outgoing personality, I’m sure it won’t take her long to get to know our campus and keep my schedule running like a well-oiled machine. I am certain her contributions to our terrific team here in the President’s Office will be appreciable.

Please join me in welcoming Yvonne to the Roadrunner family!
