UTSA has begun a multiyear project to upgrade from Banner 8 to Banner 9. The first phase of the upgrade will take approximately one year and will focus on Administrative Banner, also known as Internet Native Banner (INB). The second phase of the upgrade will focus on self-service Banner (SSB), also known as ASAP. A start date for phase II, as well as additional details, will be announced later. Administrative Banner 8 is based on Oracle Forms. In Administrative Banner 9, Oracle Forms are replaced by JAVA pages, which means that the look, feel, and navigation of these pages will change. Banner upgrades will be applied individually to each module (Accounts Receivable, General, Financial Aid, and Student). Once the upgrade is complete, all Banner 8 Oracle Forms will have been replaced with Banner 9 JAVA pages, but during the upgrade, Banner 8 forms and Banner 9 pages will co-exist within the same production Banner system using Application Navigator.
