Business Affairs Employee Recognition Awards Programs

Celebrating Excellence is Business Affairs' employee recognition program. It is designed to acknowledge those individuals or small teams working in Business Affairs who demonstrate excellence and live the Business Affairs Guiding Principles every day.

We aim to recognize employees who make significant contributions to the division's mission and vision and who help accomplish the goals of their department, Business Affairs and/or the university.

Program Components

Business Affairs Guiding Principles Collector Cards

The Business Affairs Guiding Principles Collector Cards (GPCC) were created to increase awareness and understanding of BA’s Guiding Principles, while providing a method for recognizing individual performance that exemplifies them. The GPCCs feature Rowdy acting out each of our five principles: Create, Partner, Respect, Value, Do the Right Thing.

  • Anyone who has experienced an act of exceptional service that epitomizes our Guiding Principles can nominate an employee who works in Business Affairs.
  • Nominees are people who have provided a service that went beyond expectations and made a positive impression. These are outstanding actions that result in the delivery of extraordinary Business Affairs services.
  • Nominate an employee to receive a GPCC by communicating by phone or email with that person’s supervisor, explaining what s/he has done that merited a GPCC. Suggest the Guiding Principle(s) demonstrated by that person’s action. The behavior should go above what is expected from staff.

Department Level Recognition Award Programs

Most Business Affairs department heads have their own internal award programs that recognize outstanding staff efforts. These programs are designed to recognize the unique activities, tasks, and contributions it takes to achieve progress toward their specific goals and missions.

These programs include: Promoting Excellence in Facilities; HR Shining Stars, UTSA PD Annual Awards; BRAVO (Financial Affairs)

When individuals are recognized by their departments for their efforts, the AVP or director may submit the recipient as a nominee for the Business Affairs Celebrating Excellence program. Each department head will use the Celebrating Excellence Nomination Form to write an endorsement of the nominee, explaining the impact of the nominee's actions and how those behaviors relate to the Business Affairs Guiding Principles.
