July Highlights
Preparing for the Fall 2022 Semester
The summer is winding down and the move-in for many of our Roadrunners is fast approaching. As students and their families begin to plan for the coming semester, we encourage you to visit a few key UTSA websites. These are merely a handful of areas on campus who are here to support your Roadrunner throughout the year.
While we encourage you to be organized and have a move-in plan, we also want our Roadrunner families to enjoy their time together before the fall semester begins. Spend quality time building special memories for one last get away or staycation. Coordinating schedules may be more difficult in the future so take advantage of the time you all have now. Have fun!
We are excited to see you all soon and to have our Roadrunner family grow this year!
Family Association Engagement Form
The UTSA Family Association Newsletter offers a variety of ways for you to support your student by staying informed about resources and opportunities available throughout the year. This includes involvement with campus events and traditions.
For family members who are looking for a more active way of supporting your student and other Roadrunners, get involved with the Family Association. Connect with the association support staff to plan and coordinate ways to engage on and off campus with other UTSA families.

Resources and Opportunities
Campus Services
Campus Services is the go-to place to get the information Roadrunners need about transportation, dining and more. Services include parking, UTSA Dining, The Runner, Rowdy Campus Store, UTSACard, vending, and housing facilities. The Campus Services website is a helpful resource to learn more about parking on campus, dining and meal plan options, transportation from apartment complexes to Main Campus, transportation to the Downtown campus or Rowdy Dollars for on campus purchases. For more specific questions, email campusservices@utsa.edu.
Work on Campus
Your student can have a hand in many of the great departments and programs that directly serve students. There are several UTSA departments hiring students with work-study awards for fall positions. Some skills to be developed in any of these jobs will include Front Desk, Building Operations, Event Set-up and more! Check out Handshake for more information about the positions below as well as graduate assistantships, teaching assistant positions, and more!

Free General Admission to the McNay Art Museum
Thanks to an institutional membership, UTSA students get unlimited free general admission to the McNay Art Museum! Just have your student show their UTSACard at the museum entrance to gain entry to one of San Antonio's most beautiful landmarks and enjoy its unique collection of art. UTSA students also receive 50% off annual memberships to the McNay. Membership benefits include retail discounts, exclusive virtual content, tours with curators, conversations with artists, and more. UTSA's institutional membership to the McNay was made possible thanks to a gift to the museum from UTSA alumnus Walter Downing ’86 and his wife, Sharon Downing.

Conversations With Your Roadrunner
The second half of summer is upon us and while our Roadrunner families may be busy planning for move-in, we encourage you to set aside time to chat with your Roadrunner about what is ahead for all of you. The following conversation topics are helpful to have whether your student is new to UTSA or returning, living on their own again or for the first time, or even if your student will be living with you at home.
For All Students
- Is your fall course schedule finalize? What is your plan if you do not get into a wait-listed course?
- How will we establish a way to maintain open communication? What will our plan be for when either of us need to share or hear difficult news?
- Managing money on your own can be a challenge, even if you have already had a job and paycheck for a while. Let’s chat about strategies for maintaining your money, building credit, and saving goals.
- What will your plan be for basic vehicle maintenance like tire air pressure, fluid levels, wipers, and lights? Should we get a roadside assistance plan?
For Parents of Returning Students
- Have you made time to take an actual break before classes start up again?
- Will you be continuing with your current job or will you be looking for something new?
For Parents of New Students
- How can I support you through your transition to college? Can we talk about ways to work through anxiety you may have about starting college?
- As the semester ends, what are some memories or experiences you want to have before move-in and classes starting?
