Highlights

Rowdy Gras

The Student Union hosts Rowdy Gras, a UTSA Tradition that serves as UTSA’s unique version of Mardi Gras! This event aims to educate our campus about the rich culture of Mardi Gras by bringing together the UTSA community for a fun celebration and memorable experience.

On Tuesday, February 13, students will get to enjoy traditional Mardi Gras food, free t-shirts (while supplies last), and live jazz music! Rowdy Gras will provide entertainment through airbrush tattoos, caricatures, a photo booth, and a stilt walker from 7:00 to 10:00 PM on the Student Union Lawn!

This family-friendly event will also include an area for kids to enjoy. The crowning ceremony will reveal the next Rowdy Gras Royalty and the event concludes with a firework show!

This lasting symbol of UTSA is limited to juniors, seniors, graduate students, and alumni.

Support the Family Association at UTSA Day

All Roadrunners, and their families, have experienced the stresses of picking a school that is right for continuing education after high school.

UTSA Day is an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to visit the Main Campus with their families to learn more about our community. Attendees learn about the application process, available majors, support resources, student involvement, and life as a Roadrunner.

UTSA Day

Our team is looking for parents to speak with attendees about the experience of supporting a student while picking a school and during the first year, in particular at UTSA. There will be two opportunities this semester:

  • Saturday, February 17 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
  • Saturday, April 6 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

If you are available to assist with UTSA Day, email the Family Association at family@utsa.edu.

Internships and Job Applications

The University Career Center assists all Roadrunners in discovering, pursuing, and achieving their career goals. Students can improve their career and professional outcomes through the consultants at the Career Center! Interview Preparation, Internship Assistance, Resume Building, and Work-study Information are just some of the resources available to assist your student. Visit the Career Center events page for more details on their upcoming events.

  • STEM Career Expo – Wednesday, February 20 at 2:00 PM in the HEB Ballrooms
  • All Majors Career Expo – Wednesday, February 27 at 2:00 PM in the HEB Ballrooms

Virtual and in-person appointments are available and can be scheduled in advance. Contact the University Career Center at career.services@utsa.edu for more information.

Student Leadership Academy

Leadership Workshops this Semester

The Student Leadership Academy consists of participatory workshops and experiential action steps allowing students to explore, develop, and better articulate strengths that relate to envisioning and enacting positive change in both civic and career leadership.

Workshops are offered twice a week and are tailored to address a specific NACE Professional Competency. These competencies are skillsets identified by employers as the key assets of new hires and new professionals. Once all steps and workshops are completed, the student will receive a Student Leadership Academy medal designed to be worn with graduation regalia at Commencement.

Conversation Starters With Your Roadrunner

Staying motivated through the semester

As your Roadrunner progresses through the spring semester, there may be some overwhelming emotions due to a heavy course load and studying. Students should keep active, get outside, and see their friends and family to help keep their spirits up. With Spring Break on the horizon, the time for a break will help rejuvenate them to push on through the semester.
