September Highlights

Hispanic Heritage Month
Each year across the U.S., people observe National Hispanic Heritage Month beginning Thursday, September 15 through Saturday, October 15. Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, UTSA will showcase community leaders, faculty, staff, and students around significant themes in Latinx culture. UTSA’s celebration will focus on hope and resilience, mirroring the national theme for this year.
Roadrunners will celebrate the month with this guiding theme: “Unidos: Building a Stronger UTSA.” It’s an encouragement not just to look back and celebrate the past, but to honor the journey that now paves the path to an exciting and bold future.
One of the events open to the entire San Antonio community will be the Avenida Guadalupe Association’s 41st Annual 16 De Septiembre Parade on San Antonio's Westside. The Parade is scheduled for 11:00 am on Saturday, September 17 and will include pedestrian marches (nonpolitical), floats, equestrian, and school-based organizations. In addition, UTSA marks its third anniversary of the historic Westside Community Center at its location at 1310 Guadalupe Street.
Family Weekend
Make memories with your Roadrunner and be part of UTSA Family Weekend on Friday, October 7 and Saturday, October 8. Parents, siblings, grandparents and friends are invited to join the Family Association for a weekend of fun on the Main Campus and the Alamodome.
The weekend will begin on Friday with a tour of the Roadrunner Athletic Center of Excellence (RACE) facility and the Family Association Dinner which will include the announcement of the Family of the Year.
