Ashley Littlefield

July 1, 2015//

Meet Ashley Littlefield. She's bringing the spirit of Fiesta with her as part of one of the largest incoming freshman classes the university has ever had.

I've learned that the UTSA community will always be there for you. But you have to be involved to enjoy life.

As Miss Fiesta Teen Queen 2015, Littlefield plans to continue her family's legacy of giving back to the community at UTSA, her new home.

"I've been a part of the Women's Club of San Antonio since I was 5 years old. My grandmother, Kathy Littlefield, was a past president and I always knew I wanted to be a part of that community," Littlefield said.

The feeling was the same when she stepped foot onto UTSA.

"I visited campus about two or three years ago and I remember sitting in the parking lot, crying. It was at that moment, I knew I was home," she said.

The Seguin High School graduate plans to major in Accounting, following in her mom Michelle Littlefield's footsteps.

"I'm scared but I'm excited at the same time. I'm really excited to see what the future has in store for me," Littlefield said when she attended orientation last week.

That future includes showing her UTSA pride by running for Miss UTSA and Miss Fiesta.

"I've learned that the UTSA community will always be there for you," she said. "But you have to be involved to enjoy life."

After attending more than 50 events in a month's time, she has the Fiesta experience to remind her of that.

"It was the coolest thing – having police cars surround you as you dodge in and out of traffic," she said about the police escorts Fiesta royalty have throughout the 10-day citywide celebration.

But it wasn't just about parades, parties and fun. It was an experience that helped shape her into the type of student who will make the most of the college experience.

"I already had a lot of confidence in myself before this experience, but it made me feel even more confident in my leadership abilities and it made me learn how to be independent," Littlefield said.
