I’m writing to share some information regarding the new Texas law on Protected Expression on Campus and how it affects us here at UTSA. This information is especially timely given the free speech activities that took place on campus earlier this week, and the likelihood of other outside groups engaging in demonstrations on our campus in the weeks and months to come.

Today's protest in the Central Plaza

We wanted to let you know about a protest that took place on the Main Campus today. This afternoon, two different groups were present in the Central Plaza area sharing distinctive viewpoints, which resulted in confrontations between individuals. We will review and investigate these confrontations within the scope of our policies.

We wanted to let you know about a student self-harm incident that took place today between the McKinney Humanities and Business Buildings. We know that some students may have been in the area during the time when emergency personnel were responding. If you witnessed the incident or have heard others talking about it and need additional support, UTSA is committed to helping you.
