Dear Business Affairs,

As we near the end of March, I am reflecting on Women’s History Month, a time when we honor the achievements and contributions that women have made over the course of American history. Women’s History Month originally began as a one-week celebration in Santa Rosa, California, in 1978 to correspond with International Women’s Day. In 1987, Congress designated March as Women’s History Month.

Today, there are so many women who deserve recognition for their innovation, dedication, and resilience. This month I encourage you to learn about a woman that has made an impact on United States history or in your community and find a way to honor her contributions.

As we look to our own institution, UTSA is home to a community of impactful, intelligent, and strong women who continue to make their mark on and off campus. From our female staff and faculty who continue to use their talents to improve our school, to our female students continuing to excel and break down barriers for future generations, I am honored to work in collaboration with these strong women leaders.

The UTSA theme for Women’s History Month 2023 is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.” I hope you will explore the upcoming featured events and join in celebrating Women’s History Month with our community.

Sincerely,
