Accomplishments

Automation

  • In December 2021, Recovery Operations implemented VEOCI to track confirmed COVID-19 cases reported to UTSA.
  • In spring 2024, Fiscal Services implemented the QLESS app to power the One Stop virtual waiting line allowing students to get in a virtual line, eliminating the need to wait in-person.

Emergency Notifications

  • In January 2025, Public Safety and Business Continuity and Emergency Management launched a new emergency alert system and new mobile safety app, SafeZone.

Parking and Dining

  • In November 2021, Campus Services announced a new service as part of its ongoing partnership with VIA Metropolitan Transit. Through the U-Pass program, UTSA students, faculty and staff can ride VIA Link for free.
  • In spring 2022, Campus Services implemented ParkMobile for easy and convenient hourly parking on UTSA’s campuses.
  • In fall 2022, UTSA Dining enhanced the campus experience through a variety of new locations and upgrades. RowdyMart in the JPL food court was expanded, while Panda Express, the Student Union food court dining area, and the Roadrunner Café were refreshed. New dining locations include Freshens and Rising Roll, both on the Main Campus.
  • In March 2024, Business Affairs began a micro-transit pilot program called The Little Runner providing free e-shuttle service in downtown San Antonio through a partnership with Centro and VIA.
  • In September 2024, VIA's on-demand VIA Link program expanded to include a new Downtown zone. The service operates The Little Runner and is accessible to the community through the VIA Link mobile app.
  • In fall 2024, a fleet management pilot program was initiated to address sustainability efforts and consolidate resources for the downtown campus community.

  • In fall 2024, Financial Affairs completed a five-year assessment of the IRM budget model to evaluate IRM business process improvements.
