Facilities Names Michael Merada Director of Operations & Maintenance
The Office of Facilities announced the selection of Michael Merada, P.E., as the new Director of Operations and Maintenance for the UTSA Main Campus, effective February 1, 2019.
As Director of Operations and Maintenance, Mike oversees the preventive and corrective maintenance performed throughout the Main Campus facilities as well as utility operations, fleet management, and projects managed by the Facilities Construction Team.
Mike brings more than 30 years of experience in managing operations, maintenance, utilities, engineering, contracted services, space management, Environmental/Health/Safety programs, and facility services to UTSA.
He served for six and a half years as the Plant Engineer at UTSA. Previously he spent 24 years with Hewlett-Packard Company where he served as the Central Plant Mechanical Engineer, Chemical / Waste Services Manager, and finally as the Facilities Manager for the entire HP campus in Houston, Texas.
He started his career being commissioned upon graduation from the University of Florida as an officer in the United States Navy. He served four years as the Main Propulsion Assistant and Antisubmarine Warfare Officer onboard the USS Meyerkord (FF-1058).
Mike holds a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
