Dear Business Affairs,
Thank you for your dedication and collaboration as we kick off the fall semester. I am inspired to see our teams come together across Business Affairs to support our students, faculty and fellow staff to ensure a successful start to the new academic year.
This month will be filled with many of the activities we look forward to each fall, including the UTSA football season and Hispanic Heritage Month.
Later this month, you will hear updates from me regarding the State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC). This year’s campaign will run from Sept. 9-20. Last September, over 150 team members in Business Affairs participated, and I look forward to working together again to make a difference.

State Employee Charitable Campaign
The annual State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) is starting soon! This year's campaign runs from Sept. 9-20. The SECC is an easy and convenient way to donate to local, statewide or national charities. Donating is a straightforward process: Use the donation portal to pick a charity or multiple charities, choose how you want to donate—options include automatic monthly or one-time payroll deductions—and then confirm. Learn more about how to get involved today.
Business Affairs SECC Virtual Coffee Break
Join us for a Virtual Coffee Break on Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. to hear from the UTSA First Generation and Transfer Student Programs about how the SECC makes a meaningful impact on students’ lives. All Business Affairs staff are encouraged to join on Teams for the event and for a chance to win limited edition prizes. Keep an eye on your email for an upcoming calendar invitation.
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month
Each year from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, people across the United States observe Hispanic Heritage Month. You can join the celebration! Download a virtual background for your Teams or Zoom meetings, and learn more about upcoming events and activities.
Roadrunner Football Kicks Off!
Football season is here! Support our Roadrunners and take part in the fun: season tickets are still available, along with flexible mini-plan ticket packages that include four conference game tickets. View this year's schedule, purchase tickets and catch up on the latest team news. If you have questions about tickets, call the ticket office at 210-458-UTSA.
Participate in the Peanut Butter Parking Campaign
Campus Services is excited to host its annual Peanut Butter Parking event, which allows individuals to pay for eligible parking citations issued from Sept. 3 through Sept. 6 with a donation of peanut butter. Donations without citations are welcome and encouraged—help us stock the Whataburger Resource Room to support members of the Roadrunner community in need. For questions, contact Campus Services.
September Is National Preparedness Month
It’s important to prepare for potential disasters by making plans that are tailored to your specific needs. Take advantage of the Office of Risk and Emergency Management’s (OREM) many safety training courses to learn how to respond effectively and keep yourself and others safe during an emergency. Check out OREM’s Emergency Response Guide for information about safety and tips for staying prepared for an emergency.
This Month in Wellness: Walking Trails
Make fitness a part of your daily routine by enjoying one of the university’s many walking trails. Enjoying a short walk outdoors is a fantastic way to experience the natural environment around our campuses while getting in some easy cardio during lunch. Visit UTSA Wellness to view trail maps and plan your next lunchtime excursion.
