Dear Business Affairs,

October was a wonderful month of celebrations and success! We celebrated Homecoming, the continuation of our UTSA Football season and hosted a very meaningful State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC). I want to take a moment to thank everyone who made this year's SECC a success — our collective impact is a result of your generosity and a powerful reminder of community and the spirit of giving.

As we approach the holiday season and I prepare for my upcoming retirement in December, I am taking time to reflect on all that I have to be thankful for professionally and personally. I extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to each of you for being such important team members in Business Affairs and across our newly unified community.

Sincerely,

Veronica Salazar signature

Our Path to a World Class University

Workforce Strategies Task Force Launches to Support Faculty and Staff

As part of the ongoing integration process, a Workforce Strategies Task Force is being launched to focus on supporting the university’s faculty and staff. The task force will focus on reviewing current and future programs, offerings and related policies by establishing working groups to gather input from stakeholders. These working groups will examine the university’s current approaches that focus on ensuring continued support and the strategic growth of our mission.

Campus Parking Assessment

Help Shape the Future of Parking and Mobility

Campus Services is conducting a comprehensive, university-wide parking assessment to guide the future of parking and mobility across our campuses. Share your feedback to help make parking more efficient for the Roadrunner community as it grows and expands. For more information about how to participate, visit the Parking Assessment website or contact Campus Services.

Giving Thanks

Give Thanks This Holiday Season

As the holiday season approaches, now is the perfect time to come together as a community to express gratitude for the support, friendship and opportunities that enrich our lives. During this season of thanks, show your appreciation to a coworker and embrace the spirit of thankfulness, recognizing the contributions of students, faculty and staff who make our university a special place to learn and thrive.

Smart Goals are Due

SMART Goals Are Due This Month

Employees and supervisors, we know you are working to develop your fiscal year 2026 SMART goals, which are due in PeopleSoft on Nov. 26. A SMART goal is defined as one that is specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound. Visit Performance Management for resources including informational guides, a microlearning module and a fillable worksheet to help you create effective SMART goals.

Wellness Tip

Wellness Tip: Celebrate the Holidays with Self Care

This holiday season, take care of yourself and your family by making healthy choices. Enjoy your favorite foods in moderation and try adding fruits, vegetables and lean proteins to your plate for a more balanced meal. Keep moving with a walk and don’t forget to get plenty of rest to reduce stress. Most importantly, remember to unwind, enjoy some special treats and cherish time with loved ones.

Communications Tip

Communications Tip: Reviews for Branded Materials

Following the recent integration, it’s more important than ever that all branded materials go through a review process with the Business Affairs Strategic Communications team. We work in coordination with University Marketing to maintain branding alignment across the university. This ensures brand consistency and proper use of university trademarks across all materials, including swag, T-shirts, construction projects, signage and more. Your team’s communications points of contact can submit a request in Basecamp any time for a branding review or you can request a call to discuss your project with our team. We will provide guidance and, when needed, coordinate with University Marketing on your behalf for clarification or additional recommendations.
