1986

Jeff Clarke, B.S. in electrical engineering, has been promoted to chief operating officer and vice chairman at Dell Technologies Inc., in Austin. Clarke was the vice chairman of products and operation.

1987

Mark Froemsdorf, B.S. in architecture, has been named an associate at TEF Design in San Francisco. Froemsdorf provided design and management leadership to a number of health care assignments with TEF for Kaiser Permanente and UC San Francisco and is currently completing work on Kaiser’s first inpatient psychiatric unit in Fremont.

1996

Lt. Col. Derrick Wheeldon, B.A. in multi/interdisciplinary studies, has retired from the U.S. Airforce after serving 29 years on active duty. During his military career Wheelson was part of Operations Desert Shield/Storm, Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom.

2000

Edward Esparza, M.S. in mathematics education and his wife, Sonia Esparza, who earned her B.S. in earth science education in 1993 from UTSA, have endowed an undergraduate scholarship in the College of Engineering in honor of his parents, Jesus Esparza and Teresa Duran. 

Josefina-Zatarain-Flouroy, B.B.A. in building development, earned an award as a nonprofit employee for the non–senior management category from the San Antonio Business Journal’s 2019 Nonprofit and Corporate Philanthropy Awards.

2007

Maligun Technologies Inc., a San Antonio email tech company owned by, Will Conway, B.A. in political science, acquired French email company Mailjet.

2009

Brett Sybold, M.B.A. in business, has been selected to a national list of influential young executives, The Business Journal Influencers: Rising Stars. For the past 15 years Sybold has worked his way up the ranks at USAA from an analyst to middle management.

2010

Grisel Y. Acosta, Ph.D. in English literature/Latinx literature, served as the editor for the recently published anthology Latina Outsiders Remaking Latina Identity. Acosta is an associate professor in the English department at Bronx Community College.

Meghan Garza-Oswald, M.P.A. in public administration, has been selected to a national list of influential young executives, The Business Journal Influencers: Rising Stars. Garza-Oswald is the CEO of Community Housing Resource Partners, a national housing nonprofit that empowers families to grow and thrive beyond the constraints of poverty.

2011

Chris Treviño, M.B.A. was named group manager by Freese and Nichols for Central Texas. Trevino brings more than 15 years of experience in design, program management, and construction for major roadways and bridge projects.

Nirav Bhakta, B.S. in architecture, earned first place in HBO’s 2019 Asian Pacific American Visionaries for the short film Halwa.

2019

Rebecca McMahon, M.B.A. in business, was named president of Rochal Industries. She joined the company in January 2015 as a scientist.

Alix Dubernard, B.A. in computer science, joined USAA as an information security analyst after just graduating in fall 2019.
