BA Connect Newsletter - June 2024
Veronica Salazar
Executive Vice President for Business Affairs
and Chief Enterprise Development Officer
Dear Business Affairs,
Thank you for a successful spring semester! It was wonderful to connect with many of you during the recent Employee Forum. I'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who generously contributed to the United Way Shoebox initiative, demonstrating our commitment to giving back to the San Antonio community.
As we wrap up the spring semester, I encourage you to visit the Points of Pride website, where you can celebrate the achievements of individuals and teams throughout the division, including special acknowledgements for UTSA graduates in Business Affairs.
As we move into the summer, I encourage you to make use of the wellness resources offered by People Excellence at UTSA. Prioritizing your wellbeing is important, including taking time to rest and rejuvenate. Whether it's enjoying a leisurely walk along our scenic trails on campus, or scheduling a routine check-up with your doctor, investing in your wellness is a commitment both to your personal health and the overall wellbeing of our community.
Lastly, I want to thank each of you for your unwavering dedication and hard work throughout this spring semester. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed, and I look forward to the semesters ahead! Go 'Runners!
Sincerely,
Veronica Salazar
Executive Vice President for Business Affairs
and Chief Enterprise Development Officer
Be Prepared in Case of Heat Illness
San Antonio can get extremely hot during the summer. Stay cool and safe by limiting strenuous outdoor activities, drinking plenty of water and wearing loose-fitting, light clothing. To learn more about heat-related illnesses and how to prevent them, visit UTSA’s heat injury prevention web page. For any questions about heat-related illness tips, email Risk and Emergency Management.
Register for Fiscal Year-End Workshops
Our fiscal year-end is quickly approaching, and Financial Affairs is offering two workshops this week. Register for the New Employees Workshop on June 4 or the Refresher Workshop on June 6. Both are virtual sessions and feature important year-end deadlines and closing processes, as well as changes to business processes and Financial Guidelines. Visit the Fiscal Year-End website for additional workshop details and downloadable workshop material. If you have questions, email Financial Affairs.
Reminder: Use Your Paid Time Off for Outstanding Performance
As a reminder, benefits-eligible staff were awarded up to 32 hours of paid time off for outstanding performance as part of this year’s compensation strategies. These hours must be used by Aug. 31. You are encouraged to use your hours to take a meaningful break from work to support a healthy and productive work/life balance. For questions, contact your supervisor or HR Business Partner.
