KristeePhelpsKristee Phelps

Business Affairs is proud to recognize Kristee Phelps, Wellness Coordinator, in Environmental Health, Safety, and Risk Management, as the 1st quarter recipient of the Celebrating Excellence Award for FY 2011.

Kristee was hired just over a year ago to head up the brand new UTSA Wellness Program, Rowdy New U. She not only kicked off the program, but has, in that short period, created a top-notch program.

  • Kristee demonstrated creativity by her outreach efforts both on and off campus.
  • Presentation at the Mayor’s Fitness Council
  • Forum Committee member of the San Antonio Worksite Wellness Task Force which is sponsored by the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District
  • Promoted UTSA Police Physical Fitness Assessments (28 members are participants in the Wellness Program)
  • Created Monthly UTSA Lunch and Learns

She has done a terrific job of communicating and promoting the program across the campuses, filling all of the monthly participant quotas. Offering a program with great variety and many opportunities for any fitness level has increased participation.

With creativity and communication comes change and the change is how UTSA has embraced wellness. Over the past month, Kristee has led the University to two significant awards:

WINNER: UTSA, Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon – Get Fit Challenge for Corporate, Extra Large 1st place
WINNER: 2010 Annual UT System Physical Activity Challenge Traveling Trophy

Kristee is recognized for her enthusiasm and it seems that she may be succeeding in her goal to make UTSA a healthier place to work!

Congratulations and thank you Kristee for your Creativity, Communication and Dedication to UTSA campuses and their health!
