See what Business Affairs Departments
are doing for SECC 2016

The Office of Facilities has a long history of answering the call to support the State Employee Charitable Campaign.  As part of this year’s fundraising efforts, Facilities will hold a SECC Kick-Off Breakfast event for West Campus departments on Friday, October 21.  Partnering with  Facilities will be Environmental Health Safety & Risk Management (EHSRM), Inventory, and the Center for Archaeological Research.  For a nominal contribution, employees will enjoy a hearty breakfast comprised of two tacos, a delicious pastry, and coffee/juice.  Another component of the fundraising activities will be a Silent Auction.  The Facilities SECC committee members will each contribute an item to be used for the silent auction which will run through the duration of the campaign. Funds generated from the auction are in addition to the individual staff contributions and all proceeds will go directly to the Charitable Campaign.  Facilities employees take great pride in participating in the SECC and have consistently demonstrated a great spirit of generosity. Together we care!

In Financial Affairs, the Financial Services and University Bursar is busily advancing the SECC campaign. JPL-DT is putting together a basket (Car Wash theme) for Silent Auction and collecting used books for Book-sell event. The JPL-Main and Financial Services have put out candy next to the SECC piggy bank for collections. Inventory representatives are participating in ticket sales for the West Campus SECC breakfast.

The Accounting and Controller’s office staff are collecting additional funds via the SECC piggy bank. DTS staff are collecting additional funds via the SECC piggy bank and holding two Loteria (bingo) activities. They will also create and donate a basket to the Silent Auction. The Payroll Office has donated a UTSA wind chime to the Silent Auction. Budget Planning and Development has crafted a scrapbooking supplies basket for the Silent Auction.

Human Resources invited Seton Home to speak at their monthly staff meeting, where computers will be available for online donations. They are hosting a candy drive the whole month of October, and all proceeds will be donated to Seton Home.  They also are participating in the SECC online auction by donating an HR Tailgating basket. The basket has raised over $200 in past years. Human Resources’ SECC Champions have placed a box in HR’s front lobby to collect donated books for the SECC Book Sale and are adding a box for the gently used clothing drive.

This year Business Affairs is teaming up with UTSA’s Women’s Studies Institute to donate gently used women’s and children’s clothing for San Antonio’s Battered Women’s and Children’s Center in support of Domestic Violence Month. Bring along items your family is no longer wearing when you get your flu shot and help other families in need. Or you can collect your clothing donations in your office collection box through November 1.

If you want to participate, please email or call Melissa May, x4204.
