BA Connect Newsletter - April 2022
Veronica Salazar
Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President for Business Affairs
Dear Business Affairs Familia,
We have many exciting events coming up throughout the month of April! Today kicks off the Business Affairs Food Drive, as we come together as a division to contribute to the Whataburger Resource Room. I hope to see many of you on Thursday, April 7, for our Loteria Game, which is a wonderful opportunity to bring your food donations to campus.
Later this month is the UTSA Day of Service on April 16. I encourage you to sign up to volunteer alongside your peers as we work to give back on campus and within the community. Toward the end of the month, save the date for our next Let’s Chat! Virtual Town Hall on April 28 and the UTSA Staff Olympics on April 30. I look forward to these opportunities to connect with our division and colleagues across campus.
Over the coming week, I am excited to enjoy some of the Fiesta celebrations in San Antonio as we return to more normalcy in our community. Be safe and ¡Viva Fiesta!
Sincerely,
Business Affairs Food Drive
Celebrate Fiesta by giving back! From April 4–8 we are hosting an on-campus food drive benefiting the Whataburger Resource Room, formerly known as the Roadrunner Food Pantry. Drop off canned goods Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the front lobby of Public Safety located in the Bosque Building, or in Facilities on the Main and Downtown Campuses. You can also bring your donations to the Loteria Game on Thursday, April 7, at noon in the Flawn Sciences Outdoor Learning Environment. Join us for prizes and food, and be sure to wear your Fiesta attire! Please RSVP for the Loteria Game if you plan to join us.
The most needed donation items are:
- Canned protein (beef, chicken, fish, beans)
- Soup and chili
Mid-Year Staff Performance Check-In
We’ve reached the midyear point in the staff performance management cycle. In the coming weeks, staff and their supervisors will complete a midyear check-in to review current performance and discuss progress toward SMART goals. To complete the process, supervisors should begin the check-in by clicking “update and share” under “Goals Mid-Year Check-In” in ePerformance. Midyear check-ins must be completed no later than April 15.
Points of Pride Updates
Have you accomplished something significant this semester? Business Affairs continually seeks innovation and improvement, and we are proud to celebrate the achievements of individuals and teams within our division. Please submit any points of pride from the spring semester to VPBAOffice@utsa.edu.
Please be sure to include information on any employees who are graduating this May so that we can recognize them on our Points of Pride website.
Cardboard Kids
Cardboard Kids is a city-wide public awareness campaign to raise awareness about child abuse, and UTSA’s effort is coordinated by UTSA Leadership and Volunteer Services. Cardboard Kids are available for pick up on the Main Campus until April 4. Decorate them before the reveal day on Thursday, April 7.
