The summer months are a time of preparation for Business Affairs. This year, we are preparing for many important milestones—the end of the fiscal year, the start of a new academic year and the upcoming integration with UT Health San Antonio.
I am excited about all that the year ahead will bring and am deeply grateful to each of you for the valuable role you play in keeping our university moving forward.
I hope you will take time in the coming weeks to prepare yourself for the year ahead as well—whether that means rest, travel, reading a good book or enjoying an afternoon by the pool. As always, I encourage you to explore our employee benefits, perks and resources this summer.

Integration Updates
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) has officially approved the merger of The University of Texas at San Antonio and The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. This approval is a major milestone, affirming the institutions' integration efforts and vision for the future. A site visit from SACSCOC is expected in late 2025, with final accreditation confirmation anticipated in June 2026. Mark Your Calendars for Annual Enrollment and the Benefits Fair
UTSA's annual benefits enrollment runs July 15-31. This year’s benefits fair will be held Thursday, July 10, at the Main and Downtown campuses. Visit the Annual Enrollment website for more information, and check the UTSA This Week employee newsletter each Monday for updates from People Excellence.
2025-26 Parking Permits Now Available for Purchase
Purchase your parking permit for next academic year today! A wide variety of permits are available to suit your needs and budget, including surface, garage, garage reserved and evening-only permits. Buy your permit now and pay later by choosing payroll deduction as your payment method. Deductions begin with the September pay cycle. For questions about parking permits, contact Campus Services.
Prepare for Year-End Evaluations with MyTraining
To prepare for the year-end evaluation process, People Excellence offers online resources and MyTraining classes throughout the summer. Check out the Performance Management webpage to register for upcoming sessions covering the process overview, the self-evaluation and manager training. Self-evaluations are due Friday, Aug. 8, and manager evaluations are due Friday, Aug. 29. For questions, contact People Excellence.
Communications Tip: How to Write Numbers in AP Style
UTSA uses AP Style formatting for most communications. Here are some tips to keep in mind when writing numbers. Spell out numbers one through nine and use numerals for 10 and above. Be careful not to start a sentence with a numeral; instead, try to rephrase the sentence. If the sentence starts with a specific year, it’s acceptable to use numerals (e.g. 2025 marked a milestone year). Some general exceptions exist for numbers below 10, such as ages (2-year-old), dollar amounts ($3 million), and times (2 p.m.).
