Title IX and Pregnancy Accommodations
Title IX
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (20 U.S.C. § 1681) is a federal law that prohibits discrimination based on gender in educational institutions which receive federal financial assistance. Title IX also prohibits sexual harassment, which includes sexual assault and sexual violence. If you believe you have been sexually harassed or have been the victim of sexual violence, please contact the Title IX Coordinator in the Office of Equal Opportunity Services to file a complaint:
Pregnancy
In addition, Title IX requires schools that receive federal funds to provide reasonable accommodations to students who are pregnant or have pregnancy related conditions. This includes pregnancy, pre-natal doctor appointments, childbirth, false pregnancy, miscarriage, termination of pregnancy, or recovery from any of these conditions. Please contact the EOS/Title IX Office for further information.
