Adaptive Technology
Services
Increasingly, higher education employs technology in delivering academic programs and services. UTSA has and will continue to be part of this exciting computer/internet based technological trend.
At UTSA the following technologies are available through the Office of Information Technology in the OIT computer labs located in the JPL (second floor), and in the Downtown Library. Note: Use of this technology requires that students first register for services with Student Disability Services and are subsequently referred to OIT for access to this software/hardware):
-
Screen reader (JAWS)
-
Zoom text
-
Kurzweil
-
Dragon Naturally Speaking
Zoom text is available on all OIT Student Computing lab computers (BB 2.01.20, JPL 2nd floor Information Commons and Downtown Library) for any student and includes the JPL/DTL laptops available for students to check out. JAWS, Kurzweil and Dragon are available on computers in the adaptive areas in JPL and DTL, and require students to be registered with SDS to access. In addition, OIT has made Zoom Text available when requested in other College computer labs throughout the main and downtown campuses. Other hardware such as CCTV's as well as software such as JAWS and Dragon can be found within the Adaptive Test Center in Student Disability Services. These hardware and software technologies are for exclusive use by students registered with Student Disability Services.
