The San Antonio Business Journal has announced that University of Texas at San Antonio President Taylor Eighmy has been chosen as the inaugural Dealmaker of the Year as part of the new Building San Antonio Awards.
The initiative is part of a comprehensive master plan for UTSA that President Taylor Eighmy believes will address key mobility challenges affecting the university and the city, while creating greater connectivity between two growing campuses.

This Wednesday we celebrate the 50th anniversary of UTSA’s creation by the Texas Legislature. Just as in 1969, legislators today firmly believe in the ability of UTSA to make a difference in our community and the world.
Today is a day to celebrate! It was 50 years ago today, on June 5, 1969, that Governor Preston Smith signed into law House Bill 42 and The University of Texas at San Antonio was born.
In the spring of 2018 we launched an initiative to focus on the student experience at our Downtown Campus. Much progress occurred during this initial phase, which is now coming to a formal close as certain efforts become operationalized and others evolve into more focused initiatives.
As a part of our Strategic Growth and Innovative Excellence destination, UTSA is committed to cultivating the excellence of our people. To support our commitment, much work has gone into preparing for this coming fiscal year as we fully implement our new Incentivized Resource Management (IRM) model which shapes UTSA’s budget for fiscal year 2020.

Earlier this month, we reached out to seek your input on a new name for the Main Campus. The survey saw enthusiastic participation with approximately 4,000 responses.
