Partnership with Centro San Antonio
UTSA partners with Centro San Antonio to provide enhanced services that support a safe, clean and welcoming campus experience at our downtown locations. Through this partnership, Centro provides trained ambassadors to conduct daily patrols and offer safety escorts on and around the university’s Downtown and Southwest campuses, as well as at San Pedro I.
Centro Quality of Life Ambassadors
Centro ambassadors represent patrol walking paths, parking lots and the perimeters of the university’s downtown locations in the mornings and evenings. Working in teams of two, the ambassadors travel between campuses on bicycles, reporting incidents and unlawful activity to the UTSA Police Department (UTSAPD). The teams are trained in local laws and ordinances to improve safety, and their visible presence serves to improve safety by attempting to dissuade illegal or uncivil behavior. Centro ambassador services represent the spirit of downtown San Antonio, and are available year-round, seven days a week.
Centro Kiosks
Centro kiosks are strategically located to provide services and information to the UTSA and downtown community. Working in teams of two, ambassadors travel between campuses and report incidents and unlawful activity to UTSAPD. They also share free water and hospitality. Look for UTSA-designated kiosks on the Southwest Campus and at San Pedro 1. Ambassadors staff the campus kiosks Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
Campus Safety Escorts
Centro ambassadors serve as safety escorts Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. at the Downtown and Southwest campuses. Students, faculty and staff can request a Centro safety escort during these hours by calling 210-224-7747.

Supporting Those in Need
Centro teams provide support to individuals they encounter while on patrol who may be experiencing homelessness or are in crisis. Centro ambassadors offer information and assistance, directing individuals in need to community resources, such as shelter, housing and referral services.
